Cazen has been with me for almost 2 weeks. I am not only new to the Shiloh breed, but I am also new to owning any puppy. The last dog in my family was when I was about 12 years old.
I never considered myself a "dog person". I mean, ugh... doggy kisses, YUCK!
Well, things do change. I now cant wait to get home from work for that puppy breath doggy kiss!
Certainly, a life changing move, getting a puppy. My mornings, used to consist of a lazy 6a.m. wake up, down for a couple cups of coffee, read my emails and eventually move into 2nd gear for a shower.
Now... I am woken up anywhere from 4:45 a.m. - 5:30 a.m.. Not time for coffee, yet, as we are right out the door for our early morning pee. Then, off for a little walk and play time around yard.
Once inside, I get those staring eyes, saying "I'm Hungry". First, we change the drinking water and add 8-10 drops of this stuff so she doesnt get Lyme disease. Then, I grab one of those lovely Stella and Chewy, 8 oz all raw, complete nutritional patties. No, I do not serve it on a bun, but she does like it broken up by hand into small little bite size peices. Then she quietly sits and waits for me to say OK, Bon Apetite!
I wash my hands and FINALLY go for the coffee!!! Oh, forgot, pee first (me)
I take my coffee and run upstairs for a shower. By the time I get back down, she has devoured her meal and is.... You got it, ready to go out and get rid of it!. So out we go.
After this outing is my favorite time. We lay on the floor and play.
Have i mentioned that I LOVE puppy kisses?

You may not get what you "think" you want, but you definately get what you need!
I was convinced for 1 year, that I was getting a male dual Shiloh.
Then the litter was born. One male dual, one male sable, two female sables and four white puppies. I knew the male dual was taken, so I had to choose to stick with this litter or move on too another. I have to say, that sticking with this litter was one of the best moves in my life. Jan knew what I was looking for in my puppy. She never tried to push me in any direction, just focused on what I was "really" looking for in my dog. When it came time to make a decision, it was easy. Cazen, then Kokanee, was everything I was looking, bar the sex and color. She appeared to be a gray sable, but Jan insisted that she was not. As you can see in the photo's, Cazen is not a gray sable. She is a beautiful brown sable with so much personality it often brings tears to my eyes, thinking I almost lost her because I was so fixed on a dual male. Cazen is so much more than I could have ever hoped for. She is smart, gentle, and thoughtful. I know describing a dog as thoughtful is not normal, but just wait. If you are as lucky as I to get one of these pups, you will understand and agree.
Currently Cazen is 10 months old. She has sucessfully earned her Canine Good Citizen Award when she was only 6 month old. She has attended and was very successful at a tracking seminar, agility class and has an obedience level way beyond her age. She reads and know the meaning of 18 written words right now. That list grows rapidly. Am I partial to my pup? You better believe it. I wouldnt switch her for any other Shiloh in the world. For anyone that "thinks" they "must" have a certain color, or sex, (other than for breeding purposes) be careful not to pass up what you really need.
